Weekly Menu Plan 96 is full of such down-home favorites as pork chops, two types of chicken, steak, and tomato soup. Our desserts are both decadent and festive, so let’s get cooking!
What a week! Are you guys surviving the arctic weather that is sweeping the nation at the moment? We’re equipped to deal with snow here Up North, but the subzero weather? No thank you.
Now, I realize that for some of you, the “cold” weather means temperatures in the 50’s or 60’s. That’s cool. I’m not going to make fun of your definition of cold because I’ll tell ya right now…that summer heat you get? This Northern Girl starts to melt once it approaches 90 degrees F. We all have our climate limitations.
I think something that we can all agree upon is a love of delicious food. The Weekly Menu Plan 96 is full of hearty, down-home favorites to get us through a cold snap–whatever that may be.
Check out what’s on the Weekly Menu Plan 96:
Bacon Slayer is all sorts of jazz-hands excited for Monday because it brings Sara/My Imperfect Kitchen’s Salt and Pepper Pork Chops to the table. These simple bone-in pork chops have just enough seasoning to enhance the juicy pork flavor. Serve them with some buttered homemade egg noodles for a night of down-home comfort.
The comfort food continues on Tuesday with Cheryl/Pook’s Pantry’s Keto Chicken Thighs with Charred Lemons. The chicken is seared until crisp in hot cast iron skillet, giving the lemons a nice, smokey char. I suggest serving this one with a Greek quinoa salad alongside.
The mid-week slump is no match for my Sirloin Steaks with Creamy Onion Sauce. I sear the steaks on both sides in a hot cast iron skillet, and then pop them in the oven for a few minutes to finish cooking. While the steaks are in the oven, the sauce comes together in a flash with sweet, caramelized onions and tangy feta cheese. The sauce is EVERYTHING.
I’m completely enamored with Jenni/Pastry Chef Online’s Spicy Tomato Soup for Thursday. Not only does the soup come together quickly, it’s spicy kick is the perfect complement to a really great grilled cheese sandwich.
We can ease in to the weekend with Erin/The Speckled Palate’s Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken Sandwiches. The sweet chicken pairs so nicely with her tangy mustard cole slaw on top. I’m definitely serving my spicy sweet potato oven fries with these sammies.
Oh. My. WORD!! If there is anything more decadent yet approachable as Cheryl’s Dark Chocolate Cake with Red Wine Ganache, then I want to meet it! I wouldn’t change a single this about this cake, other than to serve a scoop of homemade vanilla bean ice cream on the side. Because OBVIOUSLY.
The cold weather won’t keep Lent from coming hot on our heels, so a slice or two of my Mardi Gras King Cake is probably a good idea. The creamy cinnamon filling must be enjoyed before y’all go abstaining from all of the deliciousness in the name of sacrifice. Or you know, just make it because it’s delicious.
