Seven years ago, out jubilant Son #3 came into the world. I must admit, we were a little nervous about his disposition when he was vehemently frowning a mere two minutes after being born!
It’s to be expected really; there he was–just minding his own business, all warm & cozy inside his mama–when all of a sudden, he was kicked out into the cold and plopped practically naked on a warming pad. How rude!
As anyone who has met him will tell you, our initial apprehension about Son #3’s personality was completely unfounded. He began to radiate joy to all those around him from the moment we brought him home. He’s a Party Waiting to Happen. All. The. Time.
Son #3’s what you would call a People Person. Some We might even go so far as to call him Rabidly Social, because he’s really, truly at his happiest when surrounded by a crowd of people he loves–and Son #3 loves everyone!
The kid has an uncanny ability to sense when a hug–of which he is not a part of–is happening within a 100 yard radius, at which point he runs to insert himself into the (now) Group Hug. He’s just that kind of kid…sweet & cuddly.
He’s so sweet in fact that as a toddler he used to walk up to random women in public, smile, lift his arms, and cheerfully say “Up?” just so that they would hold him. Sometimes it was downright embarrassing! (We won’t even talk about the heart-attacks I’ve had because he’s bee-lined to an unsuspecting female in search of a cuddle when I wasn’t looking for even a second.)
If you’re ever in my house for more than 5 minutes, you should plan to have Son #3 chatting away on your lap. In that regard, he’s kind of like a cat: one minute your minding your own business on the couch, the next minute, there’s a kid snuggled in your lap and you have no idea how he got there. He’s rather stealth-like in his movements.
I can’t believe that we’ve been so blessed to have such a Love in our lives for seven years already.
Happy Birthday, my Little Socializer! We thank God everyday for giving us you!
