Back to School time is the perfect time for a One Kitchen, Many Hearts gift exchange dedicated entirely to office supplies. I mean, who doesn’t love a big batch of shiny, new pencils, and binder clips?
I, for one, can’t get enough new writing implements. I still get the same child-like excitement when I open a new box of No. 2 pencils or write with a cool new pen–just like when I was a kid. I love school supplies! Being a homeschool family, I get to stock up on all the coolest supplies in the name of education–which is why I was thrilled when my box arrived from my BFF Jeanne of Inside NanaBread’s Head. Jeanne is an admitted Office Supplies Junkie, so I knew that regardless of what she sent, I would be hooked up for the coming school year!
Let’s take a look at her pickings, shall we?
I took it as a good sign when the first thing I saw upon opening the box was school-themed scrapbook paper, and a mathematics story problem on the card. Jeanne is all about education.
Once I dug inside the box, I was so excited that I couldn’t decide where to begin! Post-its, and Sharpies, and Paper Clips, Oh MY! It’s a homeschool mom’s dream! See that ball of rubber bands in the bottom right corner? Jeanne made that herself because she didn’t like the drab colors of the store-bought rubber band balls. Talk about a Labor of Love!
Amongst all the coolness in my OKMH box, was this:
The Neatest Tape Dispenser Ever because the tape is the dog’s tongue! Very clever! The Sons have already blown through two rolls of tape using this puppy. (See what I did there?)
The contents of the desk caddy are probably my most favorite inclusions this time around. Sharpies, colored gel pens, post-it flags, mechanical pencils, erasers, magnets, and more paperclips than the Sons can possibly unravel in one sitting. Not to mention a real NHL hockey puck to use as a paper weight.
She shoots! She scores!
Except for the part where the puck manufacturer spelled Detroit RED WINGS incorrectly. The puck has the wrong team logo on it–just a little needling between friends of rival hockey teams. Between the hockey puck and the “cheater” glasses for my Old Lady Eyes, Jeanne got her subtle digs in where she could. I like that in a friend.
Since Jeanne knows that this homeschool mama is fueled by tea and chocolate, also included was a box of my favorite Tazo Zen tea, and a slew of Moon Pie Minis! I’ve been wanting to fry up Moon Pies à la Texas State Fair ever since Jeanne mentioned them to me, but darned if I could find Moon Pies in a Michigan grocery store. Jeanne solved that problem by shipping me plenty of Moon Pies to batter and fry. For Science.
Or it would have been plenty, except for the fact that the men-folk in my house found them before I’d had a chance to whip up the pancake batter in which to dip them, much less fry them. Jerks. 😉
I couldn’t be more thrilled with my OKMH box this round. Jeanne–thank you so much for being as thoughtful as ever! I can honestly say that I will use your gifts each and every day of our school year.
Right after I use those Sharpies to write MINE all over everything, with the hope of keeping some of the stuff for my own use.
