Sweet Heat Burgers are a perfectly seasoned blend of beef and pork, layered with sweet and spicy elements that are so good, it’s destined to become your new signature burger.
I’m so happy to participate in Kita – GirlCarnivore‘s annual Burger Month. Every year, Kita invites her friends to create drool-worthy burgers to fuel her burger-lovin’ fire. We come together share in our love of all things burger. The goal is to create a really great burger. Last year, I served up a Cowboy Tumbleweed Burger with caramelized onions and pickled jalapenos. It SO rocks!
Burger Month isn’t a sponsored event in that none of us are being paid to participate. We just want to cook and inspire each other. However, several awesome burger lovin’ brands have donated over $800 worth of products for a swank Burger Month Giveaway EACH WEEK! That’s going on all month. More on the giveaway at the end of this post.
The Challenge: Create a #GirlCarnivore worthy burger. The only rule for 2017 the burger had to be epic. All bets are off! With the ‘only rule being ‘make an over the top burger worthy of the GirlCarnivore seal of approval,’ these burgers are guaranteed to excite you all month long and well into the grilling months of summer. This is GirlCarnivore’s #BurgerMonth.
The Caveat: Can it live up to the GirlCarnivore standard?
Oh, yes. I believe that it does. My personal theme for #BurgerMonth 2017 is sweet heat. I wanted to layer spice with a hint of sweetness into every layer of the burgers. My Sweet Heat Burgers are a perfectly seasoned blend of beef and pork that grills up tender and juicy. I whipped up a batch of Jalapeno Cheddar Burger Buns to serve as a base for all of the glorious toppings. The buns have a touch of honey in the dough, to sweeten up the jalapenos baked inside. The cheddar-y heat is essential in the overall flavor profile of the burgers, so don’t skimp out on the buns!
Next I bake thick cut bacon in the oven, brushing it with maple syrup to candy to outside. I add freshly cracked black pepper to spice up the sweet meat. Yeah. I said it.
Next add lettuce, tomato, and onion–or as I like to call them–the holy burger trifecta. Next comes a generous slice of candied maple bacon, and my favorite sweet and spicy pickle chips. Smear a thin layer of your favorite hot pepper jelly on the toasted top bun, and the Sweet Heat Burgers are complete!
Related: If you can find Wickles Pickles in your area, then stock up! I can’t find them anymore in northern Michigan, so I had to ship a case of Wickles home from Texas last month because my burgers are sad without them. They are just that good.
My Sweet Heat Burgers have just enough heat to tingle the taste buds, with a hint of sweetness to keep it in perspective. I’m not gonna lie–these are seriously some of the best hamburgers that I’ve ever made at home! Bacon Slayer and Son #1 couldn’t stop raving about them! In fact, my beloved man declared Sweet Heat Burgers to be the signature burgers of summer here at the Comfortably Domestic house.
Now that’s high praise!
Go ahead and make Sweet Heat Burgers your new signature burger. I’ll never tell!
Be the star of your next barbecue with Sweet Heat Burgers!
