Revealing all the excitement in our friendly bi-monthly gift exchange.
Every other month, a small group of my blog friends and I exchange care packages. We try to keep to a theme, and last months theme was “Anything Goes!” meaning that we sent whatever moved us!
I sent a Big Box o’ Love to my girl Megan – Country Cleaver. As we’re entering the third year of our little gift exchange, we’ve all kind of settled into the Squirrel Approach to gift gathering. Meaning, we tend to squirrel-away tidbits as we find them throughout the year. One of us (ahem! Jeanne!) is even so organized as to keep a running tally of notes of ideas or things that we’ve mentioned on a slip of paper that she keeps it in her purse so that she’s always at the ready!
Overachiever. 😉
Suffice it to say that I’ve been hoarding random items for Megan throughout the year, making me super-excited to ship her a box! I manages a few key scores, and even managed to knit what I like to call, Megan’s Revenge Scarf–a lacy little number knit from alpaca yarn. You see, Megan was once wronged by an alpaca when she was contemplating veterinary school. Since I’m a good friend, I knit her a scarf with yarn made from the hair of the animal whom wronged her. Good friends do that, right? 😉 To see what I sent to Megan, clicking HERE.
The lovely Mads – La Petite Pancake drew my name this time around. Girlfriend knows just what I need to survive a winter Up North! Mads wrapped every item in the box with Christmas paper and ribbons, so the usual OKMH excitement was further heightened by the joy of getting to open early Christmas presents!
We’re seeing record snowfall here in my little corner of northern Michigan, so ’tis the season to snuggle in front of the fire in my yoga pants and watch good movies. The Holiday is one of my favorite movies to watch this time of year–I probably watch it at least 7 or 8 times in the months of December and January alone, yet I didn’t own a copy before now! I resort to ordering a copy from Netflix and hold onto it until they send out their band of Netflix Enforcers to collect. Those dudes mean business. Now I won’t have to face their wrath anymore! Yay!
(P.S. The kind folks at Netflix don’t really have a band of Netflix Enforcers. File that comment under creative license.)
And since blowing snow and frigid temperatures kick my baking obsession into overdrive–winter cupcake wrappers! You can never have too many cupcake wrappers. Or too many cupcakes for that matter. Or yoga pants. You can never have too many pairs of yoga pants. It is written.
Next up: fuzzy pink socks! They’re warm, cuddly, and best of all PINK! Perfect for lounging in my yoga pants. Let’s face it, after all the pie I’ve eaten these past few weeks, yoga pants are my uniform of choice.
Are you sensing the theme here? Yoga Pants 2014!
In keeping with the theme, Mads sourced this beautiful blue scarf which is a perfect accessory for my wardrobe! Because if I’m not wearing yoga pants, I’m wearing jeans, so what better accessory than a denim colored scarf? I love it!
Mostly because it happens to go perfectly with my fuzzy pink socks and yoga pants.
Yes, I am trying to see how many times I can mention yoga pants in one post. Why do you ask?
Yoga pants! Yoga pants! Yoga pants!
Obviously, I’m obsessed.
Since I’m also obsessed with hoarding chap stick and lip gloss, I’m fired up about this little trio. Three super glossy colors with such cool names as Sugar Cookie, Sugar Plum Fairy, and Candy Cane. Sweet!
The lip gloss also perfectly matches my yoga pants, just in case you were wondering.
This little mug has quickly become my family’s new obsession–it’s the current Mayan Hot Cocoa vessel of choice. The Grumpy Cat memes have taken over the internet, and I am definitely a fan. Grumpy Cat gets the Morning Me. I actually look forward to rolling out of bed, padding down the stairs wearing my favorite yoga pants, and drinking my first cup of tea out of my Grumpy Cat mug.
NOT PICTURED: a whole lot of chocolate. RIP. Still more reason to wear yoga pants.
Thanks for everything, Mads! I look forward to all the 2014 has to offer–including our new round of OKMH care packages! (Also Not Pictured: my yoga pants.)
