As previously mentioned, my BFF Julie & I ran in the Run for Hungry Children this past Saturday. We finished. We didn’t die. We weren’t the last ones to cross the finish line.
The End.
Only kidding!
The Run for Hungry Children is a national event hosted in partnership with Bright Hope. Our run yesterday raised right around $14,000! That amount will feed one hot meal per day (at school) to the pictured children at our partner school in Haiti, along with nearly 200 of their classmates. For most of these kids, that meal will be the only meal they eat each day.
The money we raised for our local Run for Hungry Children will fund their school meal program for almost one full year!!
Can I get a woo-hoo?!
We had over 280 people pre-register for the 5K run, and 3K walk. 250 is considered a good number for an inaugural host year for this run.
Very exciting stuff.
Moving on to the more frivolous…
I never would have made the attempt to run a 5K without Julie suggesting that we at least try. I’m so glad that we trained together because it was so much fun! We kept each other smiling the entire way. We plan to keep up our running routine through the winter, and are seriously considering moving her treadmill to our house so that we can still run together. Seriously.
I really want to thank all of YOU for following along on the journey to my first 5K. Your kind words and constant encouragement mean the world to me. You guys are awesome!
