I’m not sure if you realized it or not, but their was a Royal Wedding last week. Prince William Wales married Kate Middleton. The newlyweds were ennobled The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Perhaps you may have heard a bit about it.

Being that I am not even a tiny bit Royal, of course I was invited. I had a front row seat, too! After all, I did make the Groom’s Cake. No, really! I had a front row seat on my BFF Maggie’s couch, bright and early Friday morning at 5:00 a.m.
I was totally bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.
If you believe that, you must be new here, because anyone who knows me knows that I am not a morning person. So I was really puffy-eyed and pony-tailed. But I was up, dressed, and across town by 5:00 a.m. Which meant my alarm went off at 4. On. Purpose.
For those of you unfamiliar with 4 a.m., that’s like, really early in the morning. There is a name for 4 a.m. in my world– I call it “night.”
There was a gluttonous amount of little food involved. We had a spot of tea and chowed down ate a nibble or two.
Maggie got up at 4 in the morning to make fresh blueberry scones before I arrived. She also made sure that we had tiaras and jewels to wear in honor of the festivities. Now that’s a hostess!
Her daughter Droopy helped make the bacon for the bacon sandwiches. Here she is “walking like and Egyptian.” I’m not sure why. I do know that those bacon sammies were awesome. I may have eaten six one of them while the bacon was still hot.
We had a ball watching the Royal Wedding together–an occasion that we will all remember for a lifetime. Being that I am the only girl in my household, I relished the opportunity to spend a morning being extra girly. We watched a commoner become a princess, all while wearing tiaras, and eating bacon and chocolate cake. It doesn’t get much better than that. Even Maggie’s Hubby played along with our princess games.
Actually, he came out of his home office when he smelled bacon. We made him wear a tiara for the photo before we let him have a bacon sandwich. (Snicker) Were wild ones, eh?
Just as the new Duke and Duchess shared their first televised kiss, we were able to watch the sunrise over the water. (By the way–I don’t know how Maggs ever leaves her house with a view like this–I’m not sure I’d ever leave the house with this right outside my window.)
Oh, and if you think I removed my tiara right after the wedding, you would be mistaken. I wore a tiara for most of the day because everyone deserves to be a princess every once in awhile.
So, fellow Royal Watchers: how did you celebrate the Royal Wedding?
