Fact: these bimonthly One Kitchen, Many Hearts are my favorite mail. I’m not too proud to say that I do a little happy dance & let out a squeak! every time the mail carrier brings one to my door. It’s like winning a Free Surprise Gift! Only I know it is coming and whom it is from. Oh, and I don’t have to sign up for a lifetime of magazine subscriptions in order to be entered to win.
So when I opened my OKMH box from Jeanne and saw a flurry of pink? I knew I was winning! Living in a houseful of males, the only way I can stake my claim on anything is for it to be pink and girly. Jeanne knows this, so the contents of the box just proclaimed everything to be All Mine.
The card with horse giving the little boy a slobbery kiss on the head just confirmed that fact. That little cutie in overalls could have been any of my boys…if we had a horse.
The exchange was particularly fun this time around because the person we received from was also the recipient of our boxes.
Before I break down what was in my box, can we take a minute and talk about the tags? Jeanne’s known for creating unique tags for each recipient of her boxes o’ Texas goodies. I don’t think any of the other girls would object to voting Jeanne “Most Creative.” (You should see the tags she made for Megan!) The little cowgirl wearing a cowprint vest and monogramed hat was smiling at me everywhere I looked, and put a huge grin on my face. Jeanne just gets me. Me and my weird cow print/bull-riding obsession.
First out of the box was a tumbled stone bracelet because you can never go wrong with a little bauble. Every girl loves ’em, every girl needs ’em.
Strawberry jam. Because I may have been coveting it whining about the fact that she was able to make fresh strawberry jam in Texas a full two months before we could even hope to see a strawberry blossom in Northern Michigan.
Girly, magnetic post-it notes. Because if there’s one thing I love more than post-it notes, it’s girly, magnetic post-it notes.
“So, we invented Post-Its?” (Name that movie.)
Not one, but two handmade cosmetic bags! Jeanne posted a great tutorial on how to sew these super-cute cosmetic bags. She makes it look so attainable that I may even try to make my own someday. (Maybe. The whole zipper thing scares me.) I’ve gotta tell ya–Jeanne doesn’t skimp on a single detail. The zipper pulls on my bags were customized just for me: one was a monogram letter K, and the other was a bling-y cherry for my love of both bling & cherries.
Just to further illustrate that Nothing Is Lost on Jeanne, she sent me this bag of brown rice.
Wait. What?
See, I love brown rice. LOVE it! Unfortunately, most of my family snubs their noses at brown rice,in favor of that bland white rice. Another food blogger and feeder of many males suggested that I try a sweet brown rice variety because the men in her house devour it with wild abandon. About six months ago, I was lamenting my inability to find said sweet brown rice anywhere in my little resort town. Jeanne remembered that conversation and sourced it for me.
See what I mean? Nothing is Lost on Jeanne.
The floral travel mug has been awesome! If we’ve met for more than 5 minutes, you’ll know at least three things about me:
- I am not a morning person.
- I
likeneed a mug of chai to to make my mornings Right with the World. - I have four active boys, so often this chai needs to be taken in a To-Go cup.
The pink melamine mixing bowls are my new kitchen prop of choice. Look for them in many a new food post from now on. The all-pink mix of Jelly Belly beans, cow coasters and vanilla cupcake lotion are just the Cream Cheese Icing on the Already Fabulous Cake. Which is to say, awesome!
But perhaps the pièce de résistance of the entire care package were these corn holders. Cow. Corn. Holders! I die at their cuteness. I can’t wait for corn to be in season!
I hope you enjoyed browsing through my goodies from Jeanne. These blogger boxes just get more and more fun as the girls and I get to know each other better. Click on over to Inside NanaBread’s Head and see what I mailed to Jeanne this time around.
