We had a glorious Easter Sunday here on the 45th parallel. After a week of clouds and 10 inches of *snow* leading up to the weekend, we were really glad to see the sunshine. I was excited because a sunny Easter meant that we could have our annual Easter Egg Hunt outdoors. Outdoor egg hunts bring about the thrill of a British fox hunt, with my boys as the eager hounds.
After a quick briefing of the rules, they were off! (BTW–when you live in a wooded area, there is a constant barrage of windswept leaves on the ground.)
Well, they were off, with the exception of the Baby, who discovered Goldfish crackers in his Easter bucket and decided to have a snack.
Some eggs were hidden in obvious places for the little boys to find.
The bigger boys had to search a bit harder to find their eggs.
We hid them everywhere, too. We needed to ensure that the boys work off some of their sugar-induced energy traipsing around the yard.
The Baby didn’t see what the fuss was all about. He just wanted someone to play hockey with him.
Son #1 is grinning because we saw him trying to put a “little kid egg” in his bucket. (He put it back.)
Son #3 proved to be the most clever hunter. He found most of the out of the way eggs.
The older boys were happy to be able to sort through their “haul” afterwards. They were surprised by the eggs that Son #2 was able to sneak into the hunt. He was busy all morning making things to stuff into his eggs.
Like this K-9 Bot. A robotic canine, get it?
And some “gears and bombs.” Apparently, no Easter egg hunt is complete without ’em.
Let’s not forget the Anakin Skywalker mini-figure. Because nothing in Son #2’s world is complete without a little Lego Star Wars thrown in.
All in all, we had a wonderful, family fun-filled Easter weekend.
And the Baby finally found someone to play hockey with him.
