Sometimes when shopping for others, things that are just perfect for me practically jump into my hands. It’s a weird affliction called Self Purchase Syndrome (SPS). Although I must admit that my self purchases are much less grand than they used to be. One year I bought myself a leather jacket while shopping for a sweater for I-don’t-remember-who. Another year it was a pair of black heels when shopping for a cute twin set for my Mom. SPS is real, people.
My friend Megan at Wanna Be A Country Cleaver won a cute holiday baking basket that had the a set of measuring spoons that would be just perfect for… *ahem* …someone on my shopping list that reads this blog.
I mean, how seriously cute are those gingerbread measuring spoons? (Thanks for the “lift” of your photo, Megan.) 🙂
So, naturally I had to go to the Pier 1 in town to seek them out. Plus, Pier 1 has tons of glittery, sparkley things that feed my raven-like tendencies. Well, I didn’t find the measuring spoons, but given my love for all things bovine, you shouldn’t be surpirsed that I did find this:
A Holstein print mug! With a 20 oz. capacity, it will hold a whole lot of chai latte! But I haven’t really shown you the best part:
It has four teats! Isn’t that hilarious?! I don’t know what made me laugh out loud at Pier 1 and pop this into my hand cart, but I am glad that I did. It’s not the sort of thing that I would usually buy. I am not a collector. I don’t like theme-y, cluttery nic-nacs because I have no room in my life for stuff that I have to regularly move and dust under. Can I get an Amen?
But I had to have this mug. I think it’s because I’ve spent a total of four years nursing my four babies, so I can kinda relate to the whole dairy cow thing. ( I’ve nursed four babies for four years total, not nursed four babies until they were four. I felt the need to clarify.)
Fess up! Do you suffer from SPS? What have you bought for yourself while in search of gifts for others?
