I have a huge “to-do” list. Huge. I am not to proud to say that there are things on this list that have been there for months. My to-do list is the self-imposed bane of my existence. It’s chock full of things that I should do, but don’t really want to do.
I SO don’t heart my to-do list.
It’s not that I am not motivated, it’s just that other things seem more important.
Like taking a lazy drive on canopied roads.
And listening to my kids sing their guts out to songs that they don’t really know the lyrics to, while watching them play their best air drums/guitar in the rear view mirror.
Because sometimes, I need to stop, step back and take in the beauty of it all, so that I can reassess, recharge, and reprioritize.
Besides, there are steep bluffs that need to be gazed over.
And smaller bluffs that must be climbed…
…and pondered.
And warnings to be heeded.
This is funny because if you look to the upper left corner of this picture, the cute, fearless munchkin in the neon green jacket is my third baby walking on the edge of a seriously steep bluff. In his defense, he can’t quite read all the words on the sign just yet. So I guess it’s funny in a he-didn’t-ride-a-tidal-wave-o’-sand-to-his-peril kind of way.
I’d rather hug my sweet boys.
And be thankful for my family. I still can’t help marvelling that they are mine!
Because the little things in life mean so much more than rest.
And I know that nagging to-do list will be there another day.
