Sharing the Joy & a Chinet Bakeware Product Review




Friends, y’all know that I would rather be baking than doing just about anything else around the house. I’d rather bake than garden, or clean bathrooms, or find missing Lego, or do the laundry–especially instead of doing laundry. Fact: at Casa de Comfortably Domestic, cookies will always trump doing the laundry.

But if there’s one thing that I love more than baking, it’s seeing the smiles on the faces of those whom I share the baked goods. I get to bake, therefore I’m happy. I give you brownies, therefore you’re happy. Baking brings joy all around.

At the risk of sounding dramatic: I swear that in the past few months I feel like I have baked and gave away at least half as much as I’ve baked for my family. There have been pot lucks, community meals, baby showers, new babies and oodles and oodles of recipe development going on. My only complaint is that I have an annoying habit of forgetting which baking dishes I’ve left at which events, resulting in me having an empty cupboard where my baking pans should be, and hoping that my long lost pans eventually find their way back home.

Needless to say, when I was contacted by the nice folks at Chinet to review their new disposable bakeware line, I was thrilled…and a little skeptical. Thrilled because Chinet bakeware is made from 90% recycled materials, which makes me feel a whole lot better about using a disposable pan. Skeptical because the Food Dork in me had a hard time believing that something that was primarily paper would be able to conduct heat well enough to effectively bake anything, or hold up to real food. Since the folks at Chinet gave me all of the bakeware, I decided to give away everything I baked in it; I was by no means easy on their product.


I baked several saucy, heavy lasagnas, pans of gooey cinnamon rolls, and various types of brownies–some of which were shipped across the state. Heck, I even loaded one of the pans up with a double batch of tzatziki sauce for dipping fried green tomatoes at a party. The results were all fantastic. The pans baked evenly, consistently, and they were sturdy enough to be able to transport without bending or collapsing like other disposable pans. I was very pleased with how well the Chinet bakeware performed. With the Holidays right around the corner, I will definitely be picking up more Chinet bakeware for any baking that I’ll be gifting to others.

    Sometimes it just makes more sense to use disposable. I’m also excited they were sturdy enough for heavy items like lasagna. Those are tricky to transport in disposable pans sometimes. I’m going to have to pick some of these up for the holidays. No more worrying about leaving a dish behind & hoping to get it back some day. Perfect!

      You are so right. Sometimes disposables make the most sense when you have to transport a dish somewhere, or are eatng outside. I can’t even tell you how many baking dishes I’ve dropped and shattered en route to somewhere. Graceful, I am not. 😉

    I really appreciate your review of Chinet disposable bakeware! As you know, being a Pampered Cheffer, I am a stoneware snob, but I certainly am not going to farm out my stoneware when giving away baked goods!
